ROE Visual Showcases Virtual Production Leadership at Cannes Film Festival
Leek, The Netherlands (28 May 2025) - ROE Visual took center stage at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, playing a key role in the Innovation Village as part of the festival’s renowned Cannes Next program. As the official host of the Virtual Production (VP) Stage, ROE Visual helped spotlight the power and potential of cutting-edge VP technology in film and immersive content creation.

The VP Stage served as a dedicated hub for education, inspiration, and hands-on exploration of real-time production workflows in the brand-new Innovation Village pavilion at the Palais des Festivals. ROE Visual partnered with leading technology providers, including Megapixel and Stype, to deliver a week-long series of panels, demos, and technical presentations, offering filmmakers and creatives direct access to the tools transforming modern storytelling.
“We were thrilled to bring virtual production to life at Cannes and engage with the global creative community in such an iconic setting,” states Olaf Sperwer, Business Development Virtual Production EMEA for ROE Visual. “The Innovation Village gave us the opportunity to showcase our technology not just as a technical solution but as a creative enabler for storytellers worldwide.”

Throughout the week, the VP Stage welcomed a wide range of attendees — from studio executives and production designers to VFX artists and indie filmmakers — all eager to understand how VP is shaping the future of content creation. Highlights included expert-led discussions on the real-world application of LED volumes, camera tracking, content pipelines, and technical deep dives delivered by ROE Visual’s partners.
The Village Innovation was the greatest challenge and step up we have ever taken at Cannes Next. Thank you to all of our amazing partners, speakers, supporters and the team for believing and making it a reality. Sten Saluveer
“Virtual Production is not a passing trend — it’s evolving,” added Sperwer. “This week confirmed just how curious and forward-thinking the industry is, and we’re excited to continue supporting that momentum. We also are aware that we’re entering a new generation of virtual production — one that moves beyond massive LED volumes and embraces more bespoke, AI-driven, and streamlined workflows,” continues Sperwer. “At ROE Visual, we’re not just supporting this shift — we’re helping to lead it. By reimagining what’s possible with our technology, we’re reshaping how stories are told on screen, enabling smarter, more flexible VP setups that adapt to creative vision rather than limit it.”
A standout moment of the festival, the VP Stage reflected Cannes Next’s mission to bridge storytelling and innovation — and ROE Visual’s commitment to providing high-performance LED technology to drive that connection.
ROE Visual extends special thanks to the Marché du Film team for their collaboration and support throughout the event. The complete VP Stage program can be viewed here, with post-event content and behind-the-scenes photos to follow.
